Steel toe cap safety boots
Steel toe caps are the original and still the cheapest way to get the 200 joule protection EN ISO 20345 requires. They are slimmer than composite caps, so steel-toe boots look more like ordinary boots. Most here also have a steel midsole (the P in S1P or S3) for protection from nails and debris underfoot.

Is steel or composite better?
Both pass the same tests. Steel is cheaper and slimmer; composite is lighter, does not conduct cold and is metal-free. For a site boot you wear all day, the weight saving of composite is noticeable; for occasional use, steel is good value.
Can I wear steel toe cap boots through airport security?
They will set off metal detectors. If you work airside or pass through detectors, choose a composite, metal-free boot.
